It is a great time to make a donation of any amount to support those who lost lives and limbs restoring democracy and human rights in Bangladesh in July/August 2024. To read about events of that month and the opportunity and need to help those who sacrificed so much, please read this article.
As of late March 2025, the initial $8.3 million provided by the Bangladesh government as seed funding for the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation (July Martyrs Memorial Foundation) has been almost totally expended through providing vital compensation to the families of 740 martyrs who were killed and to 5,403 victims who were injured. The Foundation, which is chaired by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and was only established in October 2024, has quickly developed excellent systems to ensure rapid, transparent, and fully accountable compensation to those victims most in need, in a respectful manner.
In order to assist thousands more who require support, private donations are urgently needed. Instructions on how to give from various countries around the world appear below:
